If you’ve been holding off on buying the Nintendo Wii, you may have just made a mistake because it isn’t going to get better anytime soon. Nintendo Wii prices have gone up dramatically since last week. It used to be a steady $300 per console and now it is $350 and above in just one week.

I highly suggest everyone goes ahead and buys one now if you want one these holidays because I don’t think you want to be in Britain’s position where the eBay prices are currently $650+ US. That’s almost twice as much.

Have fun and get one while you can!

That’s right. It’s already been one year since the Nintendo Wii was released to the world. It was crazy trying to get one back then and it is just as crazy a year later. Nintendo must be doing something right.

It all started with the release of the Nintendo Revolution which didn’t get too much attention in the beginning except for Nintendo hinting about some advanced controls. Then they surprised us by changing the name to Nintendo Wii. Many hated it and a few loved it. It doesn’t matter now because it’s a huge success and everybody knows the name.

Congratulations Nintendo and I hope everyone gets a Nintendo Wii for the holidays.

It seems as though Nintendo will be releasing a tv guide service. This was hinted in the financial results briefing where there was a picture of a Japanese looking tv guide. Sources say that Wii users will be able to program their viewing schedule based on what they want. This seems really cool and will be of service to all of the tv addicts in America.

The Channel will let users search by genre and actor. It will also let different people in the family subscribe to their own favorite shows. President of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata, stats he wants people to use the Wii for their regular tv viewing habits. The Japanese will get the service in Spring 2008. There is no word when Americans will get the service despite there being potential since they use Gemstar’s TVGUIDE data.

Nintendo has recently taken on a new Chief Marketing Officer. Her name is Cammie Dunaway and is going to start directing Nintendo’s 80 million dollar budget on Monday. I have to say that it’s good to be her because it won’t take much marketing to keep Nintendo selling tons of stuff.

Her past positions include Yahoo and Frito Lay. She says that her whole family uses Nintendo products and finds them great. Well… I’m sure there is some truth to that, but that’s what she has to say. She says she prefers the brain games like Brain Age.

One of her past achievements was at Yahoo where she built a huge purple brain in New York’s Times Square. Maybe she’ll build a huge Mario head sometime soon somewhere.

One of the most important games for the Nintendo Wii has just been launched in Japan. They ended up selling 130,000 units on the first day, which was actually lower than expected. There were no long lines at any retail stores for the game. This is surprising because of how epic this game is. It is the first major Mario release since Super Mario 64 on the Nintendo 64.

Reviews are already coming out and they have been out of this world. We’re talking 9.0+ ratings. Super Mario Galaxy should keep selling well throughout the life of the Nintendo Wii, so that’s good for Nintendo. We’ll have to see how the sales are for the 1st week. I personally can’t wait for the release in early November for us Americans.

The buzz around Guitar Hero III has been huge all over America. Acting like a rockstar is pretty much embedded in the American DNA. While many people were enjoying the game, there are certain group of people with awesome sound systems who are not to happy.

It has been reported that the Dolby Pro Logic II component is missing from the game. The official response from Nintendo is that they are currently looking into the issue and will have an answer soon. This is unfortunate because the game is all about music. It’s always more fun rocking out with your amazing 5.1 sound system. It may be the closest thing you’ll get to becoming a real rocker!

As you may have heard, the media all over the country is up in arms about the newest game, Manhunt 2. It seems the extremely violent game is just a tad too much for the conservative Americans. Every major television network has had hours of discussion of the game. Even Dr. Phil spent an entire show talking about it.

The retail and uncesored versions aren’t really too much different. Judging by video clips, the censored version just adds funky video effects during the bloodies or most violent parts. Any person can still see what’s going on, I’m not sure how big of a deal it is.

I’m pretty sure Rockstar is loving all the free publicity. The irony is that Manhunt 2 will sell even more now after all the negative publicity.

Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo, stated that there will not be a price cut for this winter holiday season. They are alone because this is the time where all the companies come together and slash prices to grab the attention of American consumers. Sony PS3 and XBOX 360 have already gone through major price cuts.

Satoru stated there are no plans for a price cut any time soon because the demand for the Wii is already extremely high. They can’t even produce enough Wiis to sell to everyone who wants one. Another reason is that the Nintendo Wii is already the cheapest gaming console out on the market.

Maybe next year? Until then, most people are still too concerned about getting one any way possible despite paying almost or more than the comparable systems. Nintendo sure is living it up.
